Re-Introducing the MarkLogic Community Website

Notice anything different about developer.marklogic.com? If you are a long-time user of the website, you may have noticed our recent changes. We took a closer look at what people want out of our site and how they go about getting there, and we found a great opportunity to improve both the website and the user search experience.

A New Search Experience

You know that MarkLogic specializes in integrating data. So why not use the MarkLogic Data Hub to ingest and curate data from all of our separate websites and then build services that let you search and access that data from the hub? Our new search experience, accessible from all of our websites, allows you to search and find resources from a wide variety of sources. Looking to learn more about security? A quick search pulls in blog posts, news articles, training courses, and other pages from omsmlcstaging.wpengine.com, guides and API docs from docs.marklogic.com, and technical resources from developer.marklogic.com. It even searches through white papers and the presentation files associated with video tutorials to make sure you find what you are looking for.

Easier Access to the Content You Need

This new search capability is featured prominently on the community homepage. We figured, like us, if you know exactly what you are looking for, you want it ASAP. Looking up a function name? An exact match search will float the API doc page to the top of the search results. And like other MarkLogic data integration projects, agility is the name of the game. We pulled in these sources for now, but will be pulling in more as we hear your requests. Got an idea or suggestion? Let us know!

Targeted Content for You and Your Role

If you don’t know exactly what you are looking for, then where do you go? The old community site was organized by content type. You went to one page for written tutorials, another place for shorter recipes, and another page for white papers, and so on. We evaluated how you, our users, interface with our site – what do you look for? What do you need?  The new site is designed with a role and objective-based approach to content exploration. Are you a developer new to MarkLogic? We’ve picked out some of the best resources to help you get started. A system administrator new to MarkLogic? We have you covered too. As we move forward and better understand our users, we will continue to add to these roles and objectives to get you where you want to be faster.

Exploring Content and Technical Resources

Be sure to visit the new community site and explore our technical resources, organized by topic. These are one stop shops for all related technical resources, like guides, white papers, blog posts, tutorials (both written and video) that are all related to the same topic. Here, you can also explore our community tools and their related assets.

As always, we value your feedback and would love to hear from you. If you are a long-time user, we hope you enjoy the new experience. If you are new to MarkLogic, welcome and happy integrating!
